The European Standard for Protective Gloves, EN 388, was updated on November 4, 2016 and is now in the process of being ratified by each member country.
Regardless of allotted adjustment period, many leading manufacturers will immediately start using revised EN 388 markings on gloves.

Glove Certification – What it means?
The EN388 standard relates to protection levels specifically for safety gloves. This test assess the levels for abrasion, blade cuts, tears and punctures.
Abrasion resistance:
This tests how many revolutions it takes to create a hole, with an abrasive material under a stipulated pressure. Rated from (1-4), 4 being the most resistant.
Blade cut resistance:
This tests the number of cycles for a blade, running at a constant speed to cut through the material. Rated from (1-4), 4 being the most resistant.
Tear resistance:
This tests the amount of force (n) required to tear the glove. Rated from (1-4), 4 being the most resistant
Puncture resistance:
This tests the amount of pressure required to puncture material with a standard size point. Rated from (1-4), 4 being the most resistant
